PVC plastic flooring is widely used in commercial and public spaces due to its advantages of good elasticity, wear resistance, and easy cleaning. However, edge warping often occurs during use, which impairs both aesthetics and user experience. This article, drawing on industry data, analyzes the causes of this issue and proposes corresponding solutions.
Common causes include substandard ground conditions before construction (e.g., uneven ground, excessive moisture content), improper selection of auxiliary materials (e.g., low-quality adhesives, unqualified construction accessories), or non-standard construction techniques (e.g., insufficient compaction, failure to eliminate air bubbles). For example, excessive moisture in the base layer or low construction temperatures can easily lead to edge warping.
PVC flooring is susceptible to thermal expansion and contraction. If expansion joints are not reserved, or if there are significant fluctuations in environmental temperature and humidity, edge warping is likely to occur. Additionally, long-term exposure to humid environments or delayed handling of moisture can also trigger this problem.
Non-compliance with standard procedures during construction (e.g., insufficient compaction, delayed treatment of air bubbles), lack of regular maintenance, or failure to address abnormalities promptly (e.g., neglecting to repair slight edge warping in a timely manner) can all result in edge warping.
Choose flooring and high-quality auxiliary materials (such as latex, double-sided tape) produced by formal manufacturers to avoid poor adhesion caused by low-quality materials.
Before construction, ensure the ground is flat, dry, and meets standards (e.g., base layer moisture content ≤ 2%).
Use professional construction tools and auxiliary materials, and operate in accordance with specifications (e.g., compaction, air elimination).
Control environmental temperature and humidity to avoid extreme temperature differences or humid conditions.
Perform regular cleaning and maintenance, and address abnormalities promptly (e.g., slight edge warping can be repaired; severe cases require replacement).
Edge warping of PVC plastic flooring is mostly caused by a combination of construction, material, and environmental factors. By standardizing construction processes, selecting high-quality materials, and enhancing maintenance, the occurrence of this issue can be effectively reduced. Users should pay attention to details during the purchase and use of PVC plastic flooring to extend its service life.
